The Board of Directors of the Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions met on the evening of October 22, 2025, at the El-Aurassi Hotel in Algiers.The session was chaired by Professor Mohamed Boukhari, President of the Algerian National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (NESEC) and President of the Union.
In attendance were the presidents and representatives of the following Arab member-state councils represented on the Board:
- The President of the Economic and Social Council of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Vice‑President of the Union;
- The Economic and Social Council of the State of Palestine;
- The Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Republic of Lebanon;
- The Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Kingdom of Morocco;
- The Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The meeting concluded with the unanimous adoption of the resolutions contained on the agenda. These will be submitted for review and approval to the Union’s Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled to take place on October 23, 2025, in Algiers. The decisions cover the following points:
- Extending the Algerian NESEC’s term as President of the Union—as well as the term of the Vice-Presidency—for one full, renewable year. This extension follows a collective evaluation of achievements based on a consensus action plan.
- Developing and implementing a rigorous action plan, pending final approval at the upcoming General Assembly.
- Agreeing on the agenda for the General Assembly.
At the conclusion of the session, Professor Mohamed Boukhari, President of the Union, extended his gratitude to the Board members for this renewed expression of confidence in the Algerian National Economic, Social and Environmental Council. He welcomed the extension of the mandate for an additional year—granted in light of the year's achievements—while reaffirming his full commitment to working collaboratively to achieve the strategic objectives set out in the action plan.
